Natural Environment:
Serradilla is gateway to Monfragüe National Park, at the foot of the Sierra de Santa Catalina, and lies within the Monfragüe UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Overlooking the Tagus valley and much of the centre of the province of Cáceres, the town lies beneath quartzite ridges, not far from the ravines of the Viña and Garganta streams to the south, and the Barbaoncillo stream to the north, in an area covered by Mediterranean woodland of cork oak, gall oak and maple in the wilder areas, and by extensive holm oak pastures on both banks of the deeply incised River Tagus. The entire municipality boasts enormous biodiversity, with countless animal species of high ecological value which, in Monfragüe, are fully protected, serving as a sanctuary for species such as the black vulture, the black stork, large birds of prey, etc.
