Archaeological evidences in the site:

Located on the southern edge of the Duero Valley, in contact with the Central System of Mountains, the rock-shelter at Peña de Estebanvela (Ayllón, Segovia) contains a thick late Upper Pleistocene deposit which has yielded important late Magdalenian archaeological artefacts, particularly portable art objects.

Upper Palaeolithic (Late Magdalenian)

General description of the destination:

A number of small schist and slate plaques and flat cobblestones are decorated with finely-incised engravings. They represent horses in a naturalistic style, geometric designs with parallel lines, and other geometric motifs.

Museographic resources description:

The Museum describes the history of Segovia through 1500 objects, from the city and the province, in a building that was a slaughterhouse between the 15th and 20th centuries. In the archaeological section, among many prehistoric, protohistoric and Roman artefacts, there is an outstanding collection of objects made in precious metals, recovered from Visigoth necropolises in Segovia.
