Age of the artistic representations: The rock drawings cover all period of rupestrian Camunian art : in this area are in fact documented the oldest representations of the valley, dated back to IXth-VIIIth century b.c.
General description of the destination: The area called Luine, in which develops route A, includes the biggest number of engraved rocks, with figures that can be mostly dated back to Bronze Age. Particulary interesting is Rock number 30, which is famous for the presence of many representations of the so-called “rosa camuna”, a symbol adopted by Region Lombardia as its emblem. In the nearness there is Rock number 34, a marvellous rock with inclined surface, on which the ancient inhabitants of the valley engraved, between Bronze and Iron Age, thousands of images : big armed warriors, reticular figures, rectangles and lines, meanders, labyrinths and, on the right side, a big composition with spears, axes, halberds and shields. On the upper part of the rock shows up the figure of a big cervid which for its style can be dated back to the beginning of Camunian rupestrian art (IXth-VIIIth century). Following the visit we can stop at Rock number 48, that is figures of axes, daggers, spears and shields that can be dated back to Bronze Age. Some other metres and route A meets route B, along which we mostly find rocks with representations of weapons and shields. Coming back next to the Services Centre we can start the visit along route C, which overlooks the valley and the town of Darfo Boardio Terme. In this area, know as “Crape”, must be seen Rock 6, a big surface on which already in IXth-VIIIth century b.c. the ancient inhabitants of the valley engraved big animals figures. Among other drawings we can see also weapons (axes, halberds and daggers), cupels and inscriptions in North-Etruscan types.
