Natural Environment:

The prehistoric inhabitants of Valltorta-Gasulla would have known very different vegetation from what there now is in the area, with denser forests. The landscape would be the same, with the limestone landforms, abrupt ravines full of rock-shelters, and the birds of prey of the cliffs. Some of these birds were represented in their paintings, as well as the bees that provided them with honey. These ravines also have a large number of different reptiles.

Archaeological evidences in the site:

Valltorta-Gassulla Cultural Park in Maestrat possesses a large number of cultural and ecological value. Several thousands of years ago, the creators of the rock art of the Mediterranean Basin painted scenes in the rock-shelters, showing aspects of the life of these societies, who lived in the area when it had hardly been affected by human action. The distinctive elements of the Cultural Park are the Levantine rock paintings, rural dry-stone architecture, notable historical buildings, a varied biological environment, and the Valltorta Museum.
