Natural Environment:

The rocks are part of a particulary suggestive natural context, dominated by centuries-old woods, that strongly characterize the landscape. The engravings, genrally little visible for the nature itself of the rocks of this part of the Valley, are mostly composed by cupels, solar disks, topographical representations, mazes and spades, while anthropomorphic figures are less represented.

The rock drawings of “Coren de le fate” have been made in three important religious moments:
-between IVth and IIIrd century B.C. with mostly realized circular, wheel-like and spiral figures
-during the Bronze Age with maps-planimetric representation
-in the Iron Age with a big number of spades, symbols that can be connected with objects used for the collecting of the ashes of the funeral pyre.

General description of the destination:

Between engravings and fairies : a magic itinerary. The rock drawings of “Coren de le fate”, originally called “Coren de le strie”, are known since the Fifties, and as the other engraved rocks in Sonico’s territory, show peculiar excutive and stylistic features, that can be perhaps linked up to the work of priests-artists who expressed themselves with different symbols and figures than the ones of other places of Camonica Valley. Along the route there are many illustrative boards, wooden steles and little stop-areas, that create a route rich of suggestions and magic.
