Serra dei Pisconi Filiano – The Pisconi State Anthropological and Natural Reserve, established by state law in 1972 and located in the Filiano area, is part of the Lagopesole State Forest, in the upper Bradano River valley, Potenza province.
Archaeological evidences in the site:
In addition to a major structural intervention on the three protruding sandstone “pisconi” (formed due to the erosion of the immediately underlying layers less rich in calcareous cement) that were at risk of collapse, carried out by Geobrugg Italia in a project by the engineer Sante Lomurno and commissioned by the Zetema Foundation of Matera, several eco-sustainable solutions have been hypothesized to protect the paintings, which have been subject to shooting and attempts at removal, not only from incivility, but also from the ravages of time (especially water infiltration penetrating through the cracks caused by the displacement of the overlapping blocks) which have considerably faded the colors.
